In – The – Can

By Dave

Just had the editor of ThreeRivers Lifestyle Magazine sign off on all of my copy for my article on Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre. I’m typical as a writer – hate to write, love to have written. It’ll be in print first week of September.

But it’s complete; 2,100 words for the feature and 300 words for the sidebar piece. Sold another story – a feature on a well known local artist – for the Dec issue. On top of that I was asked by the magazine to do a review of all of the BBQ available in Missoula restaurants for the same issue. That one sounds like a lot more fun since I’m a foodie and I’m trying to figure out how I can weasel the “chef’s sampler” out of whatever restaurants I review. So far I have Fat Cat, Knucklehead’s and Famous Dave’s on my hit list. If you know of any other joints that serve smoked BBQ in town let me know. I can’t think of any others.

So now that I’m done I’ve decided to head over to my dad’s place on Lake C d’A and enjoy my 51st birthday – that would be tomorrow. Maybe a bit of boating and for sure a bit of eating. I have to start to watch the eating thing though. After looking at myself in my daughter’s wedding photos – all decked out in a tux, I can’t tell if I look more like Wilford Brimley or the Monopoly Guy.

It’s hell getting old.
